Bangladesh cricket coach Dav Whatmore has expressed his willingness to coach the Indian team if opportunities come along. He has been with Bangladesh team and under him the Bangladesh team has shown much progress in recent years. It will be a good challenge for him to coach the Indians and his contract with Bangladesh is also nearing end.
Will it be much of a loss to Bangladesh? I don't think so. Because coaches do not win the match, he is only factor in combination of many things. The upbringing, skills and commitment of players come from a well run sports system and the infra-structure.
Whatmore has shown Bangladesh the path and started the journey towards excellence. Now Bangladesh needs to build a momentum in the next few years and there is no magic Whatmore can do at this moment to make it happen in a matter of days. It will be the best if Whatmore stays with Bangladesh but he has the right to think about his career and goals. The Bangladesh cricket board is being run professionally and with less political interference it can improve the cricketing infrastructure and guide the team towards the right momentum. Any prediction for the next coach if Whatmore is not around?
